Exploring the subtler aspects of yoga, using asana as one of many practices, to uncover the ground of Being that underlies our physical, energetic, emotions, cognitive, and personal qualities.
My name is Jake, and I have been teaching yoga and practicing yoga nidra for 8 years. My yoga teacher training was with Integrative Yoga Therapy, which offered a wholistic way in which to incorporate yoga in the healing process.
I've completed my level 1 & 2 training to teach iRest yoga nidra, through Integrative Restoration. iRest yoga nidra is a yogic practice that has greatly influenced every facet of my life. I have been incorporating iRest yoga nidra in my hatha yoga classes for many years, and hope to offer more yoga nidra classes, as well as one-on-one yoga nidra sessions.
Both my hatha yoga and yoga nidra classes are focused on awareness, and the kosha model. The kosha model recognises 6 layers (body, energy, emotion, thought/belief, bliss, personality), and an underlying essence that is changeless. Both practices ask us to welcome whatever is arising in our awareness, with openness instead of judgment or repression. This welcoming quality allows whatever we are willing to be with to arise, resolve and dissolve.
I offer private yoga classes, for you alone, or for you and your friends.
